The Pretty Reckless have issued an updated recording of About You featuring Foo Fighters members Dave Grohl and Pat Smear. According to Consequence and Rolling Stone, Grohl performs on drums and adds vocals, while Smear contributes guitar to the track originally released on Dear God.
Taylor Momsen remains the song's lead singer. The revised performance features Grohl joining its chorus, with Rolling Stone also reporting guitar parts from him. Consequence describes the arrangement as incorporating a vocal exchange during the bridge.
Friends Revisit a Favorite Track
Momsen told the music publications that About You is one of her favorite songs on the album. She said she contacted Grohl and Smear about making a special new version, describing the studio collaboration as an opportunity to play music with friends.
Dear God was released in June. Rolling Stone says the album is The Pretty Reckless' fifth studio release and follows Death by Rock and Roll, which came out in 2021. The additional recording revisits one part of the existing record rather than introducing an entirely new project.
A Connection on the Road
The bands have also crossed paths through live shows. The Pretty Reckless recently supported AC/DC, and Foo Fighters filled in when scheduling problems prevented Momsen's group from making some appearances, Consequence reported. Grohl subsequently performed Highway to Hell with AC/DC.
The Pretty Reckless have another touring run planned, and the reports identify shows with Foo Fighters in January. For listeners, the updated About You brings that wider musical connection into the studio, offering another version of a song already familiar to the band's audience.
