Selma Blair's representatives are challenging parts of the account of an incident aboard a Delta flight that resulted in her arrest and assault charges. In statements covered by Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and Vulture, her team said she experienced a medical emergency and denied that she attempted to open a door during the journey.

Variety described allegations that Blair struck one crew member and bit another on an October 11 flight. Reports also detail accusations involving a police officer and a nurse after the plane landed. These remain allegations, not findings that Blair committed the reported acts.

The Actress's Explanation

Blair's spokesperson maintained that she had not intended to cause harm and argued that some coverage had relied excessively on law-enforcement statements. Her representatives also rejected the claim about an aircraft door.

The team identified multiple sclerosis and pseudobulbar affect as health conditions relevant to the events. The Hollywood Reporter said Blair's lawyer also described missed medication, long working hours and a blow to the head as possible factors in her confusion.

Those explanations are claims advanced by Blair's representatives. They do not by themselves establish what happened or settle the criminal allegations.

Proceedings Continue

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Blair pleaded not guilty to two assault counts. The outlet reported that she was released on $20,000 bail and identified January 19 as her next scheduled court appearance. The FBI is investigating the reported events aboard the flight.

Variety cited a Delta statement stressing crew and passenger safety and noted that the flight was not operationally disrupted. Blair's team has asked the public to consider more of the circumstances before making judgments, while the legal proceedings continue.
