Alanis Morissette Sets Holiday Album for November 6

Good Weather for Immaculate Conception, her first Christmas record, has 14 tracks, two originals and guests including Brandi Carlile, Steve Martin and Martin Short.

Alanis Morissette has announced her first holiday album, Good Weather for Immaculate Conception, due November 6. Consequence reported that it arrives through Epiphany Music and Virgin Music, and that pre-orders are open. Alongside the announcement, she released a version of "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" with Brandi Carlile on vocals and Steve Martin on banjo.

What's on the record

The album runs 14 tracks and includes two new originals, "Christmas on the Dance Floor" and "To an Empath at Christmas Time." The track list itself spells the first title "Christmas on the Dancefloor." The rest is mostly established seasonal material: "O Holy Night," "Silent Night," "Ave Maria," "Little Drummer Boy," "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)" and "Last Christmas." Rolling Stone noted that Joni Mitchell's "River" is also covered.

Pitchfork said the collection gathers the holiday covers Morissette has put out since 2020, adding further covers and the two new songs. Rolling Stone similarly described the album as following years of her holiday releases, with some of those earlier songs included.

The guest list goes beyond the lead single. Joy Oladokun appears on "Silent Night," Amythyst Kiah on "Momma Mary," and Trans Voices, a professional trans choir, on "O Tannenbaum." Martin Short is featured on "Merry Christmas."

Recent activity and what's next

The outlets differ on her last studio album. Consequence and Rolling Stone point to The Storm Before the Calm, from 2022, with Rolling Stone calling it her 10th. Pitchfork instead names Such Pretty Forks in the Road, from 2020.

All three outlets say she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this year. In late August, according to Consequence, she made an unscheduled appearance at Olivia Rodrigo's inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival, where the two performed "Ironic" together. Pitchfork also noted that Carlile covered Morissette's "Uninvited" at the 2026 Newport Folk Festival, and that the pair sang it together at Red Rocks last month.

Morissette's next dates are her Butterfly with a Machete limited residency at YouTube Theater. Consequence lists shows on November 5, 6, 10 and 11, which puts the second night on the album's release day.

Why it matters

The announcement turns a run of seasonal one-off covers into a full album, with a mix of new writing, standards and an unusually wide set of guests. The live dates fall around the release, so the record and the shows land in the same week.
