Josh Alexander wants a championship of his own, and AEW has given him the chance. Darby Allin will defend the TNT Championship against Alexander on the Oct. 28 edition of AEW Dynamite: Fright Night, the company confirmed after Alexander issued the challenge on the Oct. 24 episode of Collision.
Alexander made quick work of Blade Brown on Collision, forcing him to submit to an ankle lock, then took the microphone to make his case. According to Ringside News, he credited Don Callis with building what he called the most dominant faction in wrestling, pointing to the group's role in Blood & Guts, Mark Davis and Jake Doyle's feud with the Young Bucks and Kazuchika Okada's reign as AEW International Champion.
Copeland enters the picture
Watching teammates collect opportunities was not enough for Alexander, who named Allin and demanded the TNT title match. He added a twist: if he wins the belt, he plans to defend it against Adam Copeland.
That drew Copeland to the ring to confront the Don Callis Family. Alexander and Trent Beretta backed out of the ring, leaving Rocky Romero to eat a spear, and Beretta took one too when he came back in. The momentum swung when Davis and Doyle hit the ring and attacked Copeland, allowing Alexander to land a spear of his own.
The Fright Night card
Allin vs. Alexander joins a Fright Night Dynamite lineup that, per Fightful, also includes the third match of the best-of-five series between FTR and the Motor City Machine Guns and Persephone defending the TBS Championship against Queen Aminata.
With the Don Callis Family already targeting both Allin and Copeland, Wednesday's title fight could reshape more than one rivalry.
