Ricky Marvin Returns to AAA as Trainer and Producer

The former AAA World Trios Champion and longtime Pro Wrestling NOAH junior heavyweight has signed on behind the scenes with the WWE-owned promotion, according to False Finish.

Ricky Marvin is heading back to Lucha Libre AAA, this time behind the curtain. The veteran has signed with the WWE-owned promotion as a trainer and occasional producer, False Finish reported, according to Ringside News and Fightful.

"Sources tell False Finish that Ricky Marvin has signed with Lucha Libre AAA as a trainer and occasional producer," the outlet posted on Oct. 26. In his new role, Marvin will help develop talent and produce some matches. There is no word on whether he will also wrestle for the company.

Familiar ground

Marvin has deep roots in AAA. He worked there under the Bengala character before going back to his own name, and later joined Averno and Chessman as Los OGTs, winning the AAA World Trios Championship.

His career began in 1995 with CMLL, where he held the Mexican National Lightweight Championship and the CMLL Japan Super Lightweight Championship. He built his reputation on a fast-paced style, most notably during a run of more than a decade with Pro Wrestling NOAH. There he won the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship and took the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team titles three times with partners including Kotaro Suzuki, Taiji Ishimori and Super Crazy.

He also worked for Ring of Honor and appeared on Lucha Underground, and in December 2018 took part in a WWE tryout, Fightful noted. He has remained active on the independent circuit.

AAA under WWE

The signing comes as WWE continues reshaping AAA's backstage operation since announcing its acquisition of the promotion, alongside Fillip, in April 2025. Marvin gives the company another experienced hand who knows lucha libre from the inside, and the open question is how much his influence shows up in the matches fans see.
